| Hand-painted and crafted lucky Indalos wishing "Good luck for exams"
People who are superstitious often use lucky objects and things of a certain colour to attract good luck in a competition, match, game, or contest. The same is true for an exam or test like a driving test. These lucky mascots can become obsessive for sportsmen and sportswomen as well as for actors and other public performers.
Do you know someone who could benefit from some special luck for their exams?

Some school children or students use more common talismans such as coins or cuddly toys. Students in ancient Greece used to wear garlands of rosemary around their necks, or braided rosemary into their hair to improve their memory during exams. Rosemary has been used at weddings, funerals, and even to ward off the plague. Sir Thomas Moore believed the herb to be sacred for remembrance. In Hamlet, Ophelia said, "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance." According to legend, rosemary was used to awaken Sleeping Beauty.

The sapphire was used to attract divine favour, especially in tests or exams. In olden times, because it can change colour in different lights and temperatures, it was used as a test of innocence or, in the case of women, female virtue. If the owner of the stone wished to prove her fidelity, she had to wear the sapphire for three hours of daylight whilst the colour was observed.

Our lucky charm-stones come from Almeria in southern Spain close to where the original Indalos were discovered. This is a region of ancient culture believed to be the origin of the Neolithic civilisation that spread up into the whole of northern Europe between 4000 and 2000 BC - and the beginning of a megalithic era that was one of the great periods of Spanish and European history and included the construction of the mystical monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury in Britain. Cave paintings of Indalo-type shapes mingle with representations of suns, spirals, animals and labyrinths, each with their own mystical and esoteric meaning.
